ASQR: Youth STEM Grants

Youth STEM Grants

In an ever-changing, increasingly complex world, it's more important than ever that our nation's youth are prepared to bring knowledge and skills to solve problems, make sense of information, and know how to gather and evaluate evidence to make decisions

ASQ Rochester Section Youth STEM Grants

ASQ Rochester’s (ASQRS) mission is to advance individual and organizational excellence in the Greater Rochester Community through education and training in quality principles and technologies, and to promote quality professionalism by members.

To continue the mission it is important to set a strong foundation for the next generation.  For that reason, ASQRS seeks to support schools, and other organizations, that engage and inspire the area’s youth with exciting opportunities in STEM.

For the 2021/22 season ASQRS seeks to donate $4000 to extracurricular STEM programs in the Rochester Area in the sums of $500-$1000.

To be considered eligible for an award, applicant organizations must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Be a school, or organization, based in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, or Wyoming County of New York State.
  2. Be an organization that engages youth (5-18yo) with STEM activities, in a competition or challenge format; that encourages creativity, problem solving, teamwork and continuous improvement.
  3. Share results, success, and learning outcomes with ASQRS ( that may be shared publicly).
  4. Be willing to display ASQRS as a donor on website, displays, and constructed artifacts, as applicable.

The evaluation of grant applications will be based on community need, funding need and efficiency, and uniqueness.

  1. The community need for STEM activities in your district or geography area.
  2. The financial need,  gap in funding, or lack of alternative funding  the organization has to start or continue its programs.
  3. Financial efficiency, or the number of youth that may be supported by quality programming per unit of funding.
  4. Organizational uniqueness, priority will be considered for organizations that are unique and may lack established systems of support.

The ASQ Rochester Section STEM Grant Committee selects award recipients based on the content of application materials. The Committee may decide to award all, some, or none of the available scholarship funds. In all cases, the decision of the Committee is final.

The awards will be presented via a U.S. Mail distribution in October 2021.
